The Ottawa Citizen review - Nov. 18, 2003

My (second) meeting with Michael... (November 16, 2003)
I mention this here... but I don't know why, I can't get to talk about it on the board or elsewhere... it feels like blowing my own horn... I hate that...

The show was great, Michael was amazing! (As always, as you all know!) In the middle of it, he paused and said: "There is someone I'd like to acknowledge tonight... Janie Michaud, Angel. I've paid thousands of dollars for a site by Reprise Records, then she comes in and creates one of her own and it kicks a**! I can't thank you enough..." and then he also thanked Michael McSweeney, the guy who worked with Brian Mulroney and gave Michael's CD to him (Brian)... Everyone applauded and I was there, shocked/speechless! He then dedicated the song "Smile" to both of us... ^^;

After the show, we waited to get our autographs (I had brought my "Babalu" cover and the "Christmas Limited Edition"), my sister, who was too excited and couldn't wait, went to see him at the table and told him, "I am Janie's sister", he saw me and reached out across the table saying, "You know, my parents called me 6 or 7 times telling me you'd be here. You don't know how much I appreciate everything you are doing for me" and he kissed me on both cheeks, and signed both my covers: "Janie, I love you a lot!" and "Janie, you are the best"... (Ohhhhhhh! ^^; I wuv you too Michael!)

We waited for a bit longer, until everyone had their CDs signed. His manager then looked at me and said, "You're Janie?" and told me to come and have a picture taken with Michael for the paper. I brought along my sister, (who was practically floating). They took a few pictures... and used the one where my sister and I look... well... weird! oO; ('wanna know the reason?! We didn't want to put any lipstick on him!!!) But Michael looks good, that's what counts, right? - I demand a reprint!! (hee hee! Just kidding!) ^^;

Outside was a journalist waiting for me, wanting to know the address of my website and asked me a few questions like how the site came along and how I'd become a fan of Michael... but that didn't make it in the article... but since you're reading this, there is no need for it! =)

Michael Buble' Gets First Class Fan Site

July 23, 2003 - There are a lot of music fan sites on the internet. Most are built as a form of appreciation and love for the artist. Though the intent is usually the same lets just say some fan sites look much better than others and Michael Buble's latest fan site is world class. Janie Michaud who's day job is actually web designing has put together a very interactive user friendly site for anything Michael Buble.' Michaelbuble.jazzyutopia.com features the up to date activities of the singer, tour schedules, articles, reviews, message boards and much more. We chatted with webmaster Michaud about the site.

How did you first discover Michael Bublé?
Actually, it was on the radio, which surprises some people since they say that Michael's music is rarely played on the radio. My mom caught the name and that same day I bought the album online. I was hooked right away, just after one song! I've always loved this music so much and hearing a young voice bringing it back was refreshing!

What is it about Michael's music that sets him apart?
First of all, because he is young and sings classics and old standards! There are also other great artists like Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Remy Shand... but Michael has a little something different from them, he can actually make you feel that you've gone back in time! I've always loved this genre of music and I am so happy to see that it is cool again! It brings back good memories to some and introduces nice melodies to others. Michael feels this music and it shows! We can truly hear and feel it when listening to him.

Has Michael given you any feedback?
The first feedback I got was from his parents! I got a message saying how they enjoy what I do and are happy to see how much the fans support Michael. And Michael himself is thankful for what the fans do for him. He even printed some of my drawings to show friends. That was quite a surprise! Michael and his family are very supportive of what I do! It's a mutual thing!

Have you seen Michael perform?
Actually, I saw him perform for the first time last weekend at the Montreal Jazz Festival! He simply blew me away! Michael is a great performer and is very funny! He knows how to react with the audience. The first evening show I attended, there was a younger crowd so he let loose, it was a lot of fun! On the second evening, an older crowd attended, and I found the ambiance more sentimental, with a few emotional moments... like the song "You'll Never Know", which he dedicates to his grandfather during every show, has brought tears to my eyes!

Tell me about the site?
My website started simply as a page to thank Michael for his great work. I also like to draw and paint so I wanted to include some of my artwork to show some friends. The page shortly grew into a fairly large site since I got a lot of positive feedback from Michael's fans! The official site was created to promote the current album and I think it's its purpose... my site is created by a fan (of the music and the artist) for fans!

Do you design the site?
Yes, I am the designer! It's my daytime job, but also a great hobby to work on Michael's site in the evening!

What's coming up on the site?

I am always updating! Keeping the tour schedule up-to-date, finding the latest articles and pictures, even fans pictures! It's a fun way to bring us together! Anything concerning Michael is included in my site! I want to maintain it so the fans can find everything they are looking for about him.

Thanks Janie.
Thanks again John!
